Greetings to All!
I began the MLIS program at Valdosta State University in the fall of 2013. Upon completing this class, MLIS 7550 during the summer term and capstone in the fall, I expect to graduate! I have worked as an Electronic Resource Librarian and manager at Georgia Military College for the past three years and have gained a tremendous amount of learning experience and insight as I lead in a book less library. I am also the president of our Student Organization of Library and Information Studies (SOLIS) and serve to represent students at monthly faculty meetings. Recently, I participated on the search committee as a voting member in the hiring of the new dean of the Library & Information Studies program. Some rewards received as a result of my fruits of labor and dedication to this program includes induction into Kappa Delta Pi (KDP), International Honor Society in Education in the fall of 20104 and recently accepting the H.W. Wilson Scholarship for academic achievement last month!
I am a wee bit nervous, yet excited to learn more about social media technologies in this course. My background and knowledge on Web 2.0 technologies consists of interacting with others via Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, and Tumblr. I established a Twitter account about two months ago but have not quite grasp the idea of what to tweet...LOL! I am also on Two Grand and have this app downloaded to my smart phone to take pictures of food intake. Two Grand is essentially a virtual image diary of my daily consumption of water, food, vitamins, workouts, etc... I also use MyfitnessPal to log my daily caloric intake of food.

My expectations for this course is to understand how social media technologies work and how they can be advantageous to me as a librarian and in exploring how these can be beneficial for my personal use. I am fascinated & intrigued by new technologies and I'm anxious to learn more! So far, I am feeling a bit overwhelmed but hopefully this feeling will subside soon:) I like this Blogger site as well...pretty cool!
